How deep these peels go
The peels here are superficial peels. They work on the outermost layers of the skin to improve texture, tone and congestion over a course of treatments, and they are the right tool for uneven pigmentation, dullness, rough texture and breakouts. They are not the same procedure as a medium or deep peel performed under medical supervision, which reaches further into the skin, carries real downtime and belongs with a physician. If your skin needs that instead, you will be told.
What's in them
The peels here are named formulations rather than generic acid blends — PCA Peel®, PCA Peel® with Hydroquinone, Sensi Peel®, Ultra Peel®, the Refine Peel and the Clarifying Peel. The Jan Marini Skin Research® home-care program accompanies the Glycolic Resurfacing treatment on the facials side. Each treatment page names its formulation.
Which one, and why
Sensi Peel is the gentlest and the usual starting point for sensitive skin. PCA Peel is hydroquinone-free. PCA Peel with Hydroquinone targets dark spots and uneven pigmentation specifically. Ultra Peel suits mature or sun-damaged skin. Refine Peel and Clarifying Peel are the two strongest, at $180. If this is your first peel, the usual starting point is the gentler end, and then see how your skin responds.
